  1. Ron Dobbins says:

Dear Dover Historians: Doing a little research on “old meteorite reports.” Came across “Meteor Starts Fire,” in the MORRIS COUNTY CHRONICLE (NJ), for April 5, 1910, Page 1, Col. 4. Several people had seen a meteoric object descend and set fire to a barn and a storehouse behind it at 9:30 P.M. the night before. The April 17 ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH (“Meteor Sets Fire To A Barn”) even names three of the witnesses and specifies that the meteor “plowed straight through the building from roof to floor.” Unfortunately, there is no current record of this meteoric event available. I am hoping that your organization might have some record of it. All help appreciated. Ron Dobbins San Diego, Calif. 1/28/25
